Cicero famously said “if you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.”  At Whistle Stop, we think that if you have a garden and a library, and a few good bottles of wine, you have everything you need.   With that in mind, we offer a carefully selected variety of delicious domestic and international wines for you to choose from.

At Whistle Stop you will find a range of options and prices in key varietals, including domestic and international carbernet sauvignons, red blends, pinot noirs, syrahs, chardonnays, sauvignon blancs, rieslings, roses, and sparkling wines.  You will also find other favorite varieties from the US, France, Italy, Germany, Argentina and New Zealand.   Our goal is to offer wines that represent good value regardless of price.  We offer a limited selection of wines from Michigan – only wines we think compare favorably with counterparts from more established wine growing regions.

Whether you are looking to share a few bottles with friends and family during a long weekend at the beach, looking for the perfect accompaniment to your favorite dish, or looking for a hostess gift you know will be appreciated, stop by and check out our changing wine selection today.

The Wines:
On Thanksgiving, the most American of holidays, our tradition is to drink American wine.   Chardonnay and pinot noir both pair well with Thanksgiving dinner.  We are offering three selections of each:

Edna Valley 2013 (Central Coast, California) – This MEDIUM-BODIED wine has a fresh mouth feel and bright acidity, which combine to form a pleasing finish.  $10.99 per bottle

Calera 2013 (Central Coast, California) – This wine is clean, pure and juicy, with a refreshing mix of ripe pear, apple and melon flavors.  It offers a long, lingering finish.  90 Points from Wine Spectator.  $20.99 per bottle

Ramey 2012 Russian River Valley (Sonoma, California) – This well-crafted wine offers decadent aromas of golden pear and Tahitian vanilla.  It has a steely minerality with a touch of vanilla custard.  93 Points from Wine Enthusiast.  $36.99 per bottle

Pinot Noir

Sean Minor ‘Four Bears’ 2013 (Central Coast, California) – This medium-bodied wine offers flavors of dark cherry, strawberry and violets combined with subtle layers of spice.  $13.99 per bottle (Screw top)

Four Graces 2012 Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – This classic Oregon pinot has a lovely, red hue in the glass, is earthy and elegant, and bears all the hallmarks of a great, New-World Burgundy.  $27.99 per bottle

Foxen 2012 (Santa Barbara County, California) – This wine is Silky and seamless in texture, offering gently sweet raspberry and cherry flavors.  It closes with gentle tannins and lingering spiciness.  90 Points from Stephen Tanzer.  $34.99 per bottle
